18kt Yellow Gold
Here we have a stunning 18kt gold 1948 Zenith automatic with the chronometer rated 133 bumper movement inside showing it's 'Cotes De Geneve' finish. Zenith are one of our favourite producers of movements, and have historially created very accurate and sturdy timepieces (most old Zeniths we have had have kept great time even without a service for many years).
This example is in excellent original condition with the dial taking on a soft brown tone, with flat sword hands and applied alternate numeral and dot hour markers. This is a style typical of the 40s, but less seen in the 50 and 60s where baton markers became more popular than dots. There is a bordering minute track that gives this minimalistc dial a little more depth.
The 18kt yellow gold case has been given a light hand polish to remove micro scratches on the surface and give a brighter finish. This watch has a snap on case back and a diameter of 34mm.
The crown is unsigned which is correct for this period watch but difficult to know whether original or not.
This watch uses the Zenith Chronometer automatic 'Bumper' Cal 133.
This has 20 jewels and a power reserve of 35 hours.
Frequency of 18,000bph
The dial, hands and hour markers all show some ageing though we prefer to leave this piece in original condition.
The case shows some very light wear typical with this age of watch though no deep scratches or dinks. The crystal has been replaced and is scratch free. We have fitted a new black croc grain leather strap with a gold plated buckle.
