Here we have a beautiful condition Rolex Sea Dweller with a 40mm case, stainless steel oyster bracelet and black dial.
One noticeable difference between this and the Submariner (other than the water resistance) is there is no cyclops magnifier above the date. This model also has a helium escape valve and a slightly thicker case width.
The Sea Dweller also owes its development to a genuine need for a deep sea dive watch when COMEX asked Rolex to develop a watch for it's saturation divers in the early 70s.
The serial number (beginning with a U) dates this watch to 1997 while the bracelet dates to 1995 (T code). It's likely the bracelet was made and kept in the factory for a while before being fitted to the watch. The dial is also relatively rare because of the production year. In terms of luminescent material the dial signifies Tritium ('T' under 6) however, during the transition from tritium to luminova Rolex produced a number of dials marked Tritium but then by the time lume was added they had changed to luminova. This doesn't make it a 'rare' watch, but is a nice quirk.
The hands are the classic Mercedes style and the bezel is a 60 click unidirectional one with an aluminium insert and luminescent pip at 0/12.
The glass is a thick sapphire crystal. The triplock crown is screw down and has protective crown guards with a quick set function for the date.
The bracelet has screwed links with a diver's extension and double locking feature,
This watch does not come with box or papers but is issued with detailed paperwork from us listing all the details.
This watch uses the Rolex Chronometer Automatic Cal 3135.
This has 27 jewels and a 50 hour power reserve.
Frequency of 28,800nph.
The watch is in overall fantastic condition with only minimal wear visible. Some small marks to the underside of the lugs (probably from removal of the bracelet). Dial clean, crystal spotless and bezel shows no marking. The bracelet also shows very minimal wear. No signs of overpolishing.
Please note this watch is not displayed in the shop and viewing must be arranged via appointment.
