Omega Automatic Cal 501

Case material:

Gold Plated

Ref 2997 SC

Here we have a rarely seen Omega ref 2997, with a no date dial, arabic quarterly markers and a 'beefy lug' 34mm gold plated case. This model is very uncommon as Omega only produced watches with the large Hippocampus emblem in 1958 and 59. The ref 2997 has very little information published on it and you won't find any floating around the popular auction site (none on eBay at time of listing). While many Seamaster were produced with 55 or 56 calibers the no date 501 is a little less common and provides a nice symmetry to the dial.

The crown on this is also rounded rather than flat topped, which appears to be correct when compared to the few examples of this watch we have found.

The screw down case back is polished stainless steel with the large iconic Hippocampus. Other than the crystal this piece appears to be in original condition with some light ageing to the dial and patination to the hands.

For anyone after a quality dress watch or a particularly uncommon one this is a great option.

We have fitted a new black crocodile grain leather strap.
