Here we have a vintage Omega diver in all original condition, that is fit for any watch lover's collection.
This is the predecessor to the now very sought after Seamaster 300, which in the last couple of years has seen a huge spike in demand and prices. While you may need to pay upwards of £3000 for a 300, this watch shares many characterists and can be had for half the price!.
This watch features a black dial with applied quarterly hour markers and painted luminous baton hour markers. There is a 'black on white' bordered date aperture at 3. The lume filled stick hour markers are bold and easily read.
The black bakelite bezel is friction fitted meaning it slides around when turned rather than clicking and is unidirectional. These tend to fade after the years and gain a soft grey colour. The case has a polished finish to all surfaces, lacks crown guards and has a turtle shape. The screw down case back displays the Seamaster Hippocampus and the crown sets date quick change via pulling it out into position 2 and back in again.
This watch measures 36mm excluding the crown. We have fitted an aftermarket black leather strap on this example.
This watch uses the Omega Automatic Cal 565.
This has 24 jewels and a 50 hour power reserve.
As standard the watch has had a full service. No cosmetic work has been done on this watch as we prefer to leave this in it's original condition. The crystal is original with the centered logo so has not been replaced, though shows very minimal wear. The case shows some very light surface scratches though no dings, dents or deep scratches.
All functions work perfectly well with the crown setting time and date well along with winding the watch smoothly. The hands and dial show some patina with the lume no longer present on the hour hand and the lume has turned to a creamy yellowish brown.
Water resistance not guaranteed.
If you wish to view this please make arrangements with us first as this is not on permanent display.
