Here we have an Omega Constellation 'Pie Pan' with a 34mm gold capped case, screw down case back with observation medallion and original dial.
The 'Pie Pan' design on the constellation models has become iconic in recent years, due to the attractive dial, various lug designs and quality 50s and 60s chronometer 5XX series movements. Constellations pffer genuine value as they all have chronometer grade automatic movements and are generally capped instead of plated so the gold does not wear through and can even be lightly hand polished.
This model has what is known as 'dog leg' lugs which are unique to vintage Constellations. The silver dial on this example shpws some patination and ageing spots though it is original, as are the hands. When these watches became more popular and saw a rise in value many of these were put together so it's not easy to find one with an original unrestored dial and handset.
The case back on this is also in good condition, it's common to see the medallion polished and the detailing missing, however this one is sharp and clear.
This has a replacement gold plated crown.
We have fitted a black croc grain strap with a gold plated buckle.
This watch uses the Omega automatic chronometer cal 551
This has 24 jewels and a 50 hour power reserve.
Frequency of 19,800bph.
The watch is in overall very good condition. The dial shows some ageing and the case shows some llght general wear though no deep scratches or dings. The crystal has been polished and is scratch free..
