Here we have a well designed automatic watch from Longines with a rather uncommon black dial, gold filled 34.5mm case and unusual lugs.
The Admiral was introduced in the late 50s and represents a solid every day watch, with increased water resistance thrugh a front loading case and easily read dials. A lot of the Admiral models often had a date or day/date feature too.
This particular model has gilt lume filled stick hands and applied baton hour markers that sweep along a detailed minute track. Replacement push in crown.
The lugs are short and angled down with the lug holes drilled close the the edge of the watch. This means you can see the lugs face on but the strap actually fits to the watch just under the edge of the case.
This watch also comes on a Longines black alligator grain leather strap with a gold plated pin buckle.
This watch uses the automatic Longines cal 501 (Record 1955)
This watch has 17 jewels and a 44 hour power reserve.
Frequency of 19,800bph.
The watch is in overall very good condition. The case shows only light wear, with no wearing through to the gold and the crystal is scratch free. The movement is clean and keeping excellent time.
