Here we have an early 70s Heuer chronograph which was made while Heuer were sponsoring the Ferrari F1 team. This was also a period where the Swiss watchmaking industry was trying to combat the quartz crisis and creating bold innovative designs.

The case shape is a wide oval (measuring 45mm across the widest point) and has a polished chrome plate finish. The dial  has a very 70s sporty design  with a black centre with red and white stripes. The minute track sits on a white background. The running seconds sub dial sits at 6 with a 15 minute counter at 10/11.

The lumed hour and minute hands also have a red stripe running throuh until the lume fill and red tip end.

The bezel has a tachymetre scale and there is also a date aperture at 3 next to the Jacky Ickx signature.

So who is Jacky Ickx?

He is a Belgium racing driver who at frist raced in the F1 circuit, where he managed 25 podium finishes and went on to find success a Le Mans, winning it 6 times.

This watch was originally packaged in a replica racing helmet style box. They made various versions of the Heuer Easyrider, some with fibreglass cases and either a rubber or metal strap.

The movement is made by Ebauches Bettlach, a part of ETA and made affordable pin pallet movements. This means the Easyrider could be offered at a more affordable price. You'll also notice 'Heuer' is not featured on the watch, instead putting the signature and model name.
