Here we have a modern sports watch from Ball with a 40mm case, tritium tube lume, blue featured dial and complete full set.
Ball is a company which although not as well known as some other watches have a deep history in watchmaking dating back to 1891, Webb C Ball put the brand on the map by taking the job of ensuring accurate timekeeping of trains which required accurate watches and clocks. The railway timekeeping heritage has been maintaned in today's modern pieces as you will see on the case back of the timepiece we are discussing here.
This watch has a large easily read dial with blue hour numbers, 5 minute markers and second hand. There is a calendar at 3 and a textured finish undeneath the hour markers. The markers at 1,2,4,5,7,8,9 and 10 have tritium gas tubes which maintain a bright lume and have become popular in recent times.
The broad arrow hands are also lume filled and the hour hand has a blue tip. The second hand also has a lume plot and the weighted side shows the Ball logo.
This hand design tends to give this watch the slight look of a clock face. The sapphire crystal has a magnified window for the date (which is quickset).
The case has a polished finish with neat bevelling to the lugs and a fairly large crown. The caseback is rather well designed with a train engraving centrally positioned and a polished outer ring which displays the serial number, model reference and 'mb-microtec 3H illumination' in reference to the gas tube lume.
This case is screwed down, as is the crown.
This watch comes on it's original black rubber strap and we have also supplied an aftermarket blue leather strap.
This watch uses the Ball using a base ETA 2824-2 movement.
This has 25 jewels and a 42 hour power reserve.
Frequency of 28,800 bph.
This watch is in excellent condition with very minimal signs of wear.
Box, paperwork and both straps are in unused condition too. All box, paperwork and tags have been well looked after too.
