18kt Yellow Gold

Here we have a rare find, an art deco late 20s/early 30s oversized gents watch in 18kt yellow gold. This type of watch is a pretty rare find for a number of reasons.

The watch is nearly 100 years old and is cased in an easily damaged material so the fact the case has virtually no obvious wear is quite impressive and the wire lugs do not appear to have weakened. The crystal may not be original but is a thick domed one so is true to the period the watch was made

The dial shows minimal wear with a pale even patina, bold arabic numerals and an inner minute railtrack.

The case shows Swiss hallmarks so it would be sensible to assume the movement is Swiss though there are no marks or stamps to the movement at all. It's likely this was made by a jewellers who cased up a standard Swiss movement into this case, rather than a watch company building the whole thing.

We have fitted this to a black leather strap with a gilt pin buckle.

Technical Details

Due to the lack of information on the movement we can only assue this would be a relatively low frewuency (approx 15,000-18,000bph) with around 15-17 jewels.

Condition Report

This watch is in remarkably good condition for it's age. Although there is no obvious scratches, water damage or dings, the dial does show some obvious patination
